Mentoring Disciples For Christ
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19, ESV
Our passion is to see Regeneration, Restoration, Reconciliation, Renewal and Revival starting in individuals and then spreading through the local church, into homes, communities, our nation and the world. People are changed when Christianity grows, and people are delivered from all forms of darkness because of knowing Jesus, the Light of the World!
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”John 8:12, ESV
What We Believe
Our Church’s Biblical and theological identity is accurately described by the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
In 1853 construction began on Bethel Baptist Church , seated upon one acre of land donated by Randolph Bryan of Carysbrook through Fork Union Baptist Church. It opened its doors on January 1, 1854. Bethel used supply pastors or shared pastors with sister churches until 1978 when they called their first full time pastor, Donald Roberts. Bethel has had two parsonages: one in the village of Palmyra in 1947, which was sold in 1966 and the current parsonage, located on Rt. 15, completed in 1967. The church has sustained two wing additions. The southeast wing was initiated in 1956 and the north wing in 1992. A baptistry and picnic shelter were also realized around this same time frame. The cemetery was added in 1896 through donated land, which was expanded in 1937 and 1984 through further land donations.
We are a group of Christ followers seeking a more intimate knowledge and relationship with God, through Jesus and the Holy Spirit, in order to share His great love and redemption with all who will receive Him.
Matthew 22: 37- 39 "And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." (ESV) We are currently under the leadership of Reverend Scott David as our pastor. We worship through prayer, biblically based sermons and a blended style of music with hymns and spiritual songs.
